Imke David started to learn viola da gamba at the age of five. Later she studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis/Switzerland and made her solo diploma with Jordi Savall in 1992.
She is giving concerts all over Europe and is regularly invited to international festivals, CD, radio and TV recordings - as soloist as well as as member of Hespèrion XXI, Concerto Vocale, Cantus Cölln, and many others.
In 1994 she founded the Consort of Seaverall Friends together with her brother Gebhard David. The ensemble focuses on European music of the 17th and 18th centuries.

In 1997 she was awarded with the "Orpheuspreis für junge Musiker" in Zurich.
She recorded two solo CDs: "Singen, weinen, trauern und lachen" with Early Music and contemporary works. Since 2006 she has been lecturer at the Franz Liszt Hochschule in Weimar.
