Austrian Herbert Lippert belongs to the leading tenors of our time, he appears together with the most important orchestras and sings on the major stages around the world. Especially as a Mozart-tenor he made his mark by several appearances and CD recordings.
Herbert Lippert was soloist of the Wiener Sängerknaben. He studied Musikpädagogik at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst and graduated with distinction. From 1990-94 he was member of the Wiener Staatsoper. First patrons of his voice were Sir George Solti and Wolfgang Sawallisch under whose baton several important recordings like Die Schöpfung, Don Giovanni and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (for the role of David Herbert Lippert was granted a Grammy Award) were made.
To the Wiener Philharmoniker Herbert Lippert is not only bound by an intensive work on the opera- and concert-sector, but also by cooperation in the "realm of operetta" together with an Ensemble that specially arose from the Wiener Philharmoniker.
Riccardo Muti and Nikolaus Harnoncourt are considered to be the supporting pillars of his musical work.
Highlights of the year 2007 are recordings and concerts with Nikolaus Harnoncourt (Beethoven: Christus am Ölberge and Mass in C-Major), concerts at the Musikverein, Vienna under Fabio Luisi (Schmidt, Buch mit sieben Siegeln), Riccardo Muti (Cherubini, Kantate auf den Tod Haydns) and the premiere performance in Austria of songs by Erich Korngold (MV), his first Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus in Tokyo, as well as worldwide concerts and opera-performances.
