Gebhard David
Gebhard David, born in Erlangen, began his musical education with recorder and viola da gamba. At the age of twelve he discovered the cornett, which became his main instruments from then on. He studied Early Music at the Schola Cantorum Basilensis (major subject cornett) with Bruce Dickey and made his diploma in 1997.
In the same year he founded the ensemble Les Cornets Noirs together with Bork-Frithjof Smith. Also, he is a member of the Consort of Seaverall Friends. In the last years he played with famous Early Music groups, e.g. Double Bande, Hesperion XXI, Il Giardino Armonico, La Fenice, L'Arpeggiata or La Caccia at the most important festivals all over Europe. Also, he toured in Israel, Russia, North and South America.
More than forty CD recordings document his career. Since 2006 he is lecturer at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen/Germany.
